TEACHER TRAINING SELECTION INTERVIEWS

THE MINISTRY OF GENERAL EDUCATION (MOGE) WILL CONDUCT OPEN INTERVIEWS FOR PRE-SERVICE TEACHER TRAINING FOR THE 2020 INTAKE FROM 27TH – 30TH AUGUST 2019 AT THE FOLLOWING COLLEGES:

1. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION (ECE) TEACHING (ECE Diploma – 3 years)

  • David Livingstone College of Education

St. Mary’s College of Education – Mbala:

Mathematics, Integrated Science, Agricultural Science, English Language, Zambian Languages, Computer Studies, Religious Education and Social Studies.

Kitwe College of Education – Kitwe:

Chipata College of Education – Chipata:

Mathematics, Integrated Science, Zambian Languages, Social Studies, Computer Studies and Agricultural Science.

Mongu College of Education – Mongu:

Mathematics, English, Zambian Languages, Integrated Science, Computer Studies, Business Studies and Agricultural Science.

Solwezi College of Education – Solwezi:

Integrated Science, Computer Studies, Agricultural Science and Home Economics

Zambia Institute for Special Education (ZAMISE) – Lusaka:

Science, Mathematics, Business Studies, Computer Studies, Home Economics and Special Education.

Mansa College of Education – Mansa: 

Mathematics, Integrated Science, Computer Studies, Agricultural Science, Home Economics and Social Studies.

Charles Lwanga College of Education – Monze: 

Computer Studies and Mathematics.

REQUIREMENTS

A: AGE:

Applicants should not be less than seventeen (17) years and not more than thirty five (35) years old by 1st January 2020.

B. ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION TEACHING

A FULL Grade, Twelve, School Certificate or with at least 5 Credits including English.

2. PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHING

A FULL Grade Twelve School Certificate or GCE with at least 5 Credits including English, Mathematics and a Science subject.

3. JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHING

A FULL Grade Twelve School Certificate or with at least 5 Credits including English and at least a merit in the teaching subject.

NB: Applicants with Certificates not issued in Zambia need clearance from either the Qualifications Authority of Zambia or the Examinations Council of Zambia. Applicants should present themselves for interviews at the colleges with the following documents:

  • Original and two photocopies of the National Registraton Card (NRC).
  • Original and two photocopies of Grade Twelve (12)/GCE Certificate(s) or Statement(s) of Results.

Interviews will be conducted from 08:00 to 17:00 hours on each of the four days.

Applicants should note that accommodation will not be provided. Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable interview fee of One Hundred and Fifty Kwacha (K150) only.

C. APPLICANTS WITH DISABILITIES

1. Disabled applicants should report for interviews at Colleges nearest to their homes.

2. Disabled applicants can choose to apply to the following colleges:

  • The Visually Impaired – Malcolm Moffat, Mansa, Mongu, David Livingstone and Chipata Colleges of Education.
  • The Hearing Impaired – Kitwe College of Education, Solwezi College of Education.

D. SELECTION

ONLY applicants who meet the minimum entry requirements are eligible for selection. However, candidates will compete for available places in college.

E. PRIVATE COLLEGES

Candidales who opt to train in Private Colleges should verify the registration of such instituions with the Teaching Council of Zambia, or the District Education Office, or the Provincial Education Office or nearby Public Colleges of Education.

F. A high demand for teachers is in the fields of Mathematics, Science, Design and Technology, Computer Studies, Business Studies, Zambian Languages and Early Childhood Education. The Ministry hopes more candidates will opt to take training in these areas.

H. The minimum entry requirements into public and private colleges are the same for an teacher training programmes as outlined above, that is, 5 Credits or better (Merits or Distinctions) including English and Mathematics.
