Tips on how to Obtain Zambia Drivers License

 Procedure

  1. To apply you must go to the RTSA office for an oral examination at the driver examination center.
  2. An interview will be conducted by the RTSA oral examiner, applicants will be asked questions in the following key knowledge areas:
    1. High way Code
    2. Traffic Signs
    3. Law demand
    4. Extra Questions for PSV drivers
  3. If the applicant scores 75% for class B and C, or 90% PSV, he/she must then proceed to step 5.
  4. Obtain and complete FORM DL 1 and submitted to the examiner for endorsement of scores.
  5. The RTSA examiner (or Assistant) will present the FORM DL 1 to data capturing (applicant’s personal details and image) for computerized stations (issues the provisional license in non-computerized stations)
  6. Pay the license fee.
  7. Applicants will need to come back to the office for the road test.

Provisional Driver’s License PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle)

  1. To apply you must go to the RTSA office for an oral examination at the driver examination center. You must bring your license and a medical form issued by a recognized health institution declaring that you are fit to apply for the license.
  2. An interview will be conducted by the RTSA oral examiner, applicants will be asked questions in the following key knowledge areas:
    1. High way Code
    2. Traffic Signs
    3. Law demand
    4. Other questions for PSV drivers
  3. If the applicant scores 90% PSV, he/she must then proceed to step 5.
  4. Obtain and complete FORM DL 1 and submit it to the examiner for endorsement of scores.
  5. The RTSA examiner (or Assistant) will present FORM DL 1 to data capturing (applicant’s personal details and image) for computerized stations (issues the provisional license in non-computerized stations)
  6. Pay the license fee.
  7. The provisional driver’s license will be issued.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be enrolled in a licensed driving school. They must show proof of enrollment and must demonstrate a minimum of 7 days theory driving lessons.
  • Minimum age requirements:
    • Motorcycle Provisional Driving License: 16 years of age
    • Motor Vehicle Driver’s License: 18 years of age

Provisional Driver’s License PSV (Passenger Service Vehicle)

  • Applicants must be 25 years old.
  • Applicant must have experience driving with a valid drivers license for the past tears before the application.
  • The applicant must be enrolled at a driving school for the first PSV application, and be in possession of a valid PSV drivers license for candidates seeking renewal.
