After successfully conducting a land titling pilot project in Lusaka, Zambia, Medici Land Governance will lead land titling operations on behalf of Lusaka City Council. The Operations Manager, Zambia will support MLG’s land titling operations in Zambia, expanding upon MLG’s pilot project. Applicants for this role will have substantial management experience in Zambia, specifically in finance, compliance, IT, and human resources.

What You Will Do:

  • Ensure accountability for the effective, efficient and ethical implementation of all MLG operations in Zambia
  • Manage MLG Zambia’s day-to-day administration, including property management, procurement, logistics, and human resources
  • Oversee MLG Zambia’s financial operations, ensuring the highest level of transparency and care in payroll, budgeting, cash flow, etc.
  • Ensure MLG Zambia operates in compliance with US and Zambian laws and policies
  • Support the Country Manager to maintain strong relationships with the Government of Zambia and other stakeholders
  • Serve as interim Country Manager, when required
  • Regularly coordinate and communicate with HQ on operations issues

What You Should Have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field is highly desirable; however, relevant work experience will also be considered
  • 5+ years of operations experience
  • 2+ years of management experience over teams
  • Proven ability to operate at a director level
  • Strong general management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and teams
  • Experience working for an international company
  • Legal authorization to work in Zambia

What We Hope You Have:

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Experience with Zambian Labor Laws and HR policies
  • Experience in both startups and larger, more mature companies
  • Knowledge of Nyanja and/or Bemba
