Dreams Officer
Sport in Action (SIA) is a Zambian sports non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 1998. With sport for development, the use of sport as a tool for social change, as its underlying principle, SIA positively impacts the lives of children, girls and youths throughout its targeted districts in Zambia. Sport In Action, in partnership with Pact Inc. has been implementing USAID’s flagship Zambia Community HIV Prevention Project (Z-CHPP).
SIA will be expanding its reach towards the adolescent girls and young women through the Determined Resilient Empowered Aids-free Mentored and Safe (DREAMS) initiative. DREAMS initiative supports the Government of Zambia’s response to HIV by aiming to reduce HIV transmission among AGYW aged 10–24 years, through educating young people about HIV prevention and supporting families to relieve the negative effects of HIV/AIDS.
Sport In Action invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the positions below for a duration of one year subject to funding from October 2020 to September 2020. All positions are Copperbelt Province based in the district of Luanshya.
Roles:
- Provide overall leadership in the implementation of the economic strengthening activity
- Coordinate SIA’s day to day management and implementation of economic strengthening activities in DREAMS Centers and project sites
- Support the formation and digitization of Saving Groups at the DREAMS centers and ensure that they are operating according to the WORTH and OSAWE prescribed models.
- Using the bottom – up approach, identify the business propositions the AGYW are coming up with and provide technical support for them to be actualized and grow.
- Provide technical support to startup businesses being managed by AGYW in DREAMS centers and ensure that they are being managed profitably and sustainably.
- Track and provide technical assistance to AGYW, Connectors/Mentors to ensure all ES curricula modules are implemented timely, sufficiently and to acceptable, high standards.
- Coordinate implementation activity support to AGYW undergoing mentorship programs provided by consultants or vocational skills training through TEVETA recognized colleges.
- Advise Project Officer on matters of concern and elements of risk regarding DREAMS ES implementation and target achievement.
- Track work plan activities and deliverables, keeping DREAMS leadership updated on program progress on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Collaborate with the district M&E team on performance results analysis and ensuring that accurate data is captured and entered in the monitoring system using the appropriate prescribed monitoring tools.
- Undertake periodic data-driven program reviews and troubleshooting, as necessary.
- Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual narrative progress reports including success stories.
- Track, analyze and manage periodic target achievements, AGYW linkage and opportunities.
- Coordinate Economic strengthening trainings or orientations
- Monitor all economic strengthening activities
- Maintain up to date records of AGYW participating in economic strengthening activities
- Mentor volunteers implementing ES activities
Required Qualifications:
- Must be Zambian female aged between 25 and 35 years
- Must have Grade 12 certificate with credits or better in 5 ‘O’ level subjects which must include English and Mathematics
- Must have a diploma or better in a social science
- Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft office suit (Word, Excel & Power-Point) and online meeting platforms
- Must not have a criminal record
Work Experience:
- Must have past experience working with adolescents and young women in HIV prevention and service provision
- Must have experience implementing economic strengthening activities
