MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

These requirements are to be met in addition to the other programme-specific requirements

BACHELOR PROGRAMMES
A.BACHELOR PROGRAMMES

1. Senior High School (SHS) Certificate Holders

i. Must have at least, six (6) WASSCE passes including three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies, as well as

ii. Three (3) Electives in relevant subjects with a total aggregate of 36 or better.

iii. Must also satisfy Special Programme requirement(s) for programme(s) chosen.

2. School Certificate/GCE Holders

i. Five (5) credits at GCE “O” Level, including English Language and Mathematics as well as

ii. Two (2) “A” Level passes other than General Paper in relevant subjects

3. Diploma Holders

i. Must possess a Higher National Diploma or its equivalence from previous field or area of study.

ii. Full-Time applicants may pass an interview.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

1. Candidates opting for French as second area should have at least C6

2. Candidates opting for English as second area should have at least C6

3. Candidates opting for another Ghanaian language as second area should have at least C6

4. Candidates opting for German and Linguistics need no prerequisite requirement.

DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES
) Diploma in Basic Education

1. WASSCE Entry Requirement

Applicants must have Credit pass (A1-C6) in FIVE (5) subjects, comprising THREE (3) Core Subjects including English Language and Mathematics, and TWO (2) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme chosen.

2. SSSCE Entry Requirement

Applicants must have Credits (A-D) in FIVE (5) subjects, comprising THREE (3) Core Subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, and TWO (2) Elective Subjects relevant to the programme chosen.

1. WASSCE Entry Requirement

i) Six passes (A1 – D7) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics; and

B.SC. CATERING AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT EDUCATION

(Full Time and Sandwich)

An applicant must have one of the following categories of entry requirements:

(a) Credit Passes (WASSCE A1-C6 or SSSCE A-D) in three (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; plus a Credit passes (WASSCE A1 C6 or SSSCE A-D) in three (3) Elective subjects, including Food and Nutrition and any two (2) of the following: Management in Living, Textiles, Clothing and Textiles, General Knowledge in Art, Chemistry, Economics, Biology, and General Agriculture.

 

(b) Mature Applicants

Applicants must be at least 25 year by 1st September and have any of the following qualifications:

• Advanced Cookery Certificate (Cookery 812/2) or its equivalent

• GCE “O” and “A” Levels

• Advanced Cookery Certificate (Cookery 812/2) or its equivalent

• Teacher’s Certificate “A” or Teacher’s Diploma in the  relevant   subject area

• Applicants must pass a written entrance examination.

 

(c) Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate Holders

Applicants must:

• Have a good HND Certificate (at least 2nd Class Lower Division) or its equivalent in Catering

• Have acquired a 2-year post-HND qualification working experience

• Pass an interview

 

BSc. FASHION DESIGN AND TEXTILES EDUCATION

(Full Time and Sandwich)

(a)        Credit Passes (WASSCE A1-C6 or SSSCE A-D) in three8 (3) Core Subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science; plus a Credit passes (WASSCE A1-C6 or SSSCE A-D) in Clothing & Textiles or Textiles, and any two of the following other Elective subjects: Management in Living, General Knowledge in Art, Graphic Design, Economics, Leather Work,

 

(b) Mature Applicant

Applicant must be at least 25 years by 1st September, a holder of the following qualifications and pass a written entrance examination:

• Advanced Fashion Certificate (Must pass a written entrance exams)

• GCE “O” and “A” Level (Must pass a written entrance exams)

• Teachers’ Certificate “A”

• Teacher’s Diploma in the relevant subject area

• Applicants must pass a written entrance examination.

Notes:

A. Fee-paying facility is available to applicants who do not meet the competitive selection cut-offs but satisfy the minimum university requirements.

B. Special Education applicants should pass the entrance examination in their second programme before selection.

C. Successful applicants of Ghanaian Language would be given the opportunity to offer a second subject in English/French/Linguistics/German.

D. Physical Education and Sports Coaching applicants should not be more than Forty (40) and Fifty (50) years respectively.
