Zambia Open Community Schools (ZOCS) exists to enable the OVC in Zambia, especially the Girl Child and Children with Disabilities to access quality education.  ZOCS hopes to achieve this through Advocacy, Capacity Building and support to Community Schools through Service Delivery, mainstreaming the cross cutting issues of gender, HIV and AIDS and disability, as well as learning-based monitoring and evaluation of its interventions.  ZOCS seeks to recruit a qualified candidate who is motivated and result oriented to fill the following Position:

MONITORING & EVALUATION OFFICER (1) – LUSAKA

REPORTS TO – MONITORING & EVALUATION MANAGER

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be responsible for project quality assurance. This entails supporting the design and processes for data collection tools, data collection analysis and interpretation for different use by all stakeholders involved in the project. The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will ensure that the project activities are implemented on time effectively and efficiently by project staff.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Support the development of data collection tools and systems for effective project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Train and mentor implementing partners and staff in data collection, analysis and interpretation for efficient and effective use of data to inform decision making.
  • Prepare Quarterly Monitoring reports on project performance to the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager and to Stakeholders in liaison with M&E Manager.
  • Train Project Staff on data collection process, Data usage and reporting.
  • Support management and maintenance of ZOCS information system.
  • Help in facilitating the development of the Annual Work Plan and Budget.
  • Guide the process for reporting on the project key indicators for monitoring project performance and comparing it with targets.
  • Conduct Regular Monitoring visits to project sites documenting progress towards set targets and Impact and provide regular feedback to the project team for decision making and Program Improvement.
  • Actively participate and contribute to the development of project quarterly and donor reports.
  • Organize, coordinate and facilitate the development or revision of materials for trainings, workshops and meetings to address technical monitoring and evaluation needs.
  • Conduct any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

  • BA in Social Sciences, Education, Development, Economics, Demography, Monitoring and Evaluation or other relevant discipline

Experience/Skills/Competency

  • Over 2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Fluent in local languages and English for day-to-day communications.
  • Strong team player with very good interpersonal skills, self-motivated ability to work under pressure but still meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated competence in using android devices
  • NGO experience essential
  • Knowledge of data management systems essential (SPSS, Epi-Info, Excel etc.).
