2019/2020 Admission procedure at Mustessa 1 Royal university Uganda

Application Procedure

Application forms are  on line at  admissions.mru.ac.ug  and one fills the form as per the instructions , one then  gets a reference number to the gazette banks (Centenary, Stanbic, DFCU and GT)  with which to pay  application fee i.e 40,000/-

After paying application fee, the applicant reports to any of the designated Campuses or centers   with copies of the O’ Level and A ‘Level results.

The admissions office files the candidates’ requests waiting for the admissions board to formally consider the applicants and admit them on the right study programmes / courses.

The Admissions Office then pins the list of successful applicants on the designated study programmes and also takes the initiative to inform the successful applicants by either mail or phone contact.

It is at this time that applicants visit Academic Registrar’s office for Admission Letters as considered by the Admissions Board.

 

The following are the requirements for admission to Degree programmes:

For eligibility to enter into the Undergraduate Degree programmes, the candidate MUST possess the following qualifications:

O-level certificate with 5 passes in approved subjects, including a pass in English language or equivalent.

A-level certificate with two principle passes or equivalent or

A pass on the mature entrance exam, or

A diploma in a relevant programme from a recognized institution of higher learning.

 

The following are the requirements for entry into the Diploma programmes:

O-level certificate with 5 passes in approved subjects including a pass in English language or equivalent.

A-level certificate with at least one principal pass and two subsidiaries at A-level in relevant subjects or equivalent or.

A certificate in a relevant subject from a recognized educational institution.

For a diploma in secondary education, one should have two principal passes in two relevant subjects.

For a diploma in Primary education, one must have a Grade III Teacher’s certificate from a recognized institution.

 

In-Service Degree programme entry requirements

Ugandan applicants for degree programmes should hold either a Diploma in Primary or Secondary Education, and at least two years working experience.

In-Service Diploma programme entry requirements

Ugandan applicants for diploma programmes should hold a Grade III Teachers’ certificate in primary education and some two years working experience.

Advanced Certificate programme entry requirements

Those who want to enroll for an Advanced Certificate programme in any discipline should possess at least 2 subsidiary passes or a Principle pass at A-level.

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS TO ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES

Category I: Direct Entry (Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent)

Diploma in Engineering

  • One (1) principle pass in either Physics or Mathematics and one (1) subsidiary in Mathematics or physics.
  • Subsidiary in Physics and Mathematics and Principle pass in Technical Drawing.
  • Certificate Level in a related field

Category II: Diploma Entry (Diploma holders or its equivalent)

Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

  • Advanced Certificate in Motor vehicle part II
  • Certificate in Motor vehicle part I

OR

  • Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Craft part II
  • Certificate in Mechanical Engineering craft/ electrical Installation and Regulation a warded by MRU.

Diploma in Electrical Engineering

  • Advanced certificate in Electrical Installation and Regulation part III
  • Certificate in Electrical Installation and Regulation part II

Diploma in Civil Engineering

Any applicant must have passed the following:

  • Advanced certificate in plumbing part II
  • Certificate in plumbing Part I

OR

  • Advanced certificate in Brick laying and concrete practice part II
  • Certificate in Brick laying and concrete practice Part I

Bachelor in Civil Engineering

Category I:  Direct Entry

  • Two principles in Physical and Mathematics.
  • Two principles in Physics and Chemistry with a subsidiary in Mathematics.
  • Ordinary/National diploma in Civil and Building Construction with pass.

Category II:  Diploma Entry

Entry to second year, Bachelor in Civil Engineering

  • Ordinary/National diploma in Civil and Building construction with at least credit.
  • Ordinary/National diploma in Civil and Building Construction with pass.

Entry to third year, Bachelor in Civil Engineering

  • Higher diploma in Civil and Building construction with at least credit.
  • Diploma in Civil and Building construction.

Bachelor in Electrical Engineering

Category I: Direct Entry

  • Two principles in Physical and Mathematics.
  • Ordinary/National diploma in Electrical Engineering with pass.

Category II: Diploma Entry

Entry to second year, Bachelor in Electrical Engineering

  • Ordinary/National diploma in Electrical Engineering/Electronics with at least credit /second class from recognized Institution/University.

Entry to third year, Bachelor in Electrical Engineering

  • Higher diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least a credit/second class from recognized Institution/University.
  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
